MILAN: Spain ended Italy’s 37-match unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory to advance to the Nations League final.
Ferran Torres’ two goals in the first half gave Spain victory at the San Siro as Luis Enrique’s side face either France or Belgium in the final early Monday morning.
Lorenzo Pellegrini closed the gap with seven minutes left but the European champions failed to complete their comeback.
Italy, who beat Spain in the Euro 2020 semi-finals, played more than half of the match with 10 men after Leonardo Bonucci was sent off in the 42nd minute for punching Sergio Busquets in the face while scrambling for the ball in the air.
The match took place in an unpleasant atmosphere for Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma who faced AC Milan supporters on his return to the San Siro after a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
