MADRID: Sevilla’s chances of winning La Liga may have come to an end after losing at the hands of Athletic Bilbao, just moments ago when Inaki Williams scored the winning goal in the 90th minute at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Williams’ first goal since February gave Athletic a 1-0 victory while Sevilla were six points behind leaders Atletico Madrid with four games remaining.
Sevilla’s remaining four opponents face Real Madrid this Sunday in Valdebebas which is the second most important part of this weekend in the title hunt after Barcelona face Atletico on Saturday.
Atletico are now two points ahead of Real Madrid and Barca after they sidelined Elche on Saturday, before Real Madrid beat Osasuna and Barcelona beat Valencia yesterday.
Sevilla put in their best form in the top group of the league after winning five games in a row but their chances of overtaking the top three appear to be slim.
The team will have to beat Real Madrid to turn on the chances before ending the season at home to Valencia, to Villarreal and back to Alaves.
Williams endured a sense of trepidation at a crucial moment when Oihan Sancet broke through the opponent’s wall and sent it to a teammate.
Sevilla’s Fernando crossed the ball and Williams had time to pick a target and blast the ball with his right foot into the corner.
