MANCHESTER: Cristiano Ronaldo may have to wait until next Tuesday for his first appearance with Manchester United of the season.
Ronaldo will only have a day to train with his teammates after having to be quarantined at his mansion in Cheshire.
It was not enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to put him in the starting line -up for Saturday’s game against Newcastle.
Solskjaer had previously had to wait two weeks to give Raphael Varane a full appearance since his arrival at Old Trafford.
Ronald is expected to be on the bench and will start the match against BSC Young Boys in the Champions League action in Bern, Switzerland.
Even without the constraints of the COVID-19 quarantine rules, the international break will result in Ronaldo only having a chance to participate in training on Friday.
Ronaldo’s appearance is eagerly awaited by United fans when the 36-year-old returns to Old Trafford after 12 years traveling in Spain and Italy.
