HERZOGENAURACH, Germany: Mats Hummels, Thomas Mueller and Ilkay Gundogan each did not train today due to injuries, two days before the crucial clash against Hungary at Euro 2020.
The trio all played in a 4-2 win over Portugal who put Mannschaft’s campaign back on track at the European Championships, but Hummels and Mueller each rested with a knee injury while Gundogan suffered a pain in the calf.
German newspaper Bild claimed Mueller would miss the clash with Hungary early Thursday morning but a DFB spokesman denied it, saying it was too early to confirm it.
Substitute at right -back Lukas Klostermann, who has yet to play at Euro 2020, also did not train at the German camp near Bavaria due to a hamstring strain.
The German Football Federation (DFB) has not stated whether Mueller, Gundogan or Hummels will be fit to start the final Group F match against Hungary in Munich.
Germany, currently in second place in the group, need to win to advance to the last 16, but a draw is enough if France do not lose to Portugal in Budapest early on Thursday morning.
