BRUSSELS, Belgium: Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has confirmed Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard are fit enough to stay with the team for the remainder of Euro 2020 despite suffering injuries during the game against Portugal in the last 16.
De Bruyne, who is also a Manchester City midfielder, suffered an ankle injury while Hazard, who is also the team captain, struggled with a muscle injury and was substituted in the 87th minute.
Martinez said after undergoing an examination, the two players were confirmed to be able to play in the meeting against Italy in the quarterfinals.
“I have positive news about Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard. They have not suffered any serious injuries and will remain with the team.
“Our concern is that the match against Italy will take place in a few more days. Kevin and Eden may not be 100 per cent fit but we will use the time we have to keep them fit.
“If we record a win, they will be at their best for the semi -finals,” Martinez said.
