LONDON: Thomas Tuchel praised Chelsea for being “amazing” when the defending Champions League champions booked a ticket to the last 16 with a 4-0 win over Juventus.
Tuchel’s side took the lead when the ball hit Antonio Rudiger’s unpunished hand which led to Trevoh Chalobah’s opening goal at Stamford Bridge.
Juventus failed to bounce back after the controversy when Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner exploded in the second half to take Chelsea to the top of Group H.
Chelsea are above Juventus on goal difference and will secure top spot if they win at Zenit Saint Petersburg in the group stage final on 8 December.
It was another good performance from Chelsea who have not lost in 10 games of all competitions since a 1-0 defeat at Juventus in September.
“It’s a really good show. We want to continue to be patient, but at the same time don’t want to fall asleep, so it’s a challenge to do both,” Tuchel said.
“We did very well, it was difficult to score against Juventus and we created a lot of chances. Praise for the amazing performances and great results.”
James clearly excelled on the right wing as the 21 -year -old is now maturing as a world -class talent.
However Tuchel faced problems when N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell each had to be ruled out with Chilwell said to have suffered a knee injury causing concern for the Premier League leaders.
“Ben is in pain, not bad at the moment. We will run the test tomorrow. We hope for the best. Same with N’Golo,” Tuchel said.
